The year of 2020 has been a great year of learning and new normal. Many legacies are been broken in just a matter of few days or weeks and now become robust. This had set the trend of many new strategies that technology leaders have started looking and some of them who are already forerunner had become cake walk to improve in line to their stakeholders.

In small and medium organization in the verge of Digital transformation / already adopted to digital technologies now it is becoming burden that the IT Operating cost and recurring cost is eating almost 60% of their overall digital and IT budget.

Is this the right for organization who want to grow in digital space? Is the organization need to increase their digital and IT budget to acquire more customers or to generate more revenue? This is the typical legacy model of operating IT.

The flip side of the coin, does this mean every organization should rationally reduce their Digital / IT Spend? Do IT leader follow rule of thumb during their budget discussion? This may not be true for every organization. All these depends on the Digital Maturity Stage (DMS) the organization is in.

The new normal had made IT leaders to shift the way they think and plan their strategy. The shift is reduce / avoid technology complexity.

Complexity in Technology is inherited knowingly or unknowingly due to multiple factors like demanding complex business requirements or dynamic focus of the organization or could be change in organization goal or leadership or complacent on existing system or combination of those. However, the new normal had made the leader to revisit the situation and started challenging the status quo.

The shift in thought process had made leaders and the architects to go back the drawing room and start looking inward on the technology stack they have build it. This would result in rethink customizations that are made, home ground developments, database architectures, Data structures, Backend-Middleware-frontend layers, multiple integrations, inhouse static reports, technology stacks and security layers.

Possible solutions the leaders can think of are out of the box solutions, SaaS Services. The days are gone where it is only big organizations part of the Gartner magic quadrant can solve the puzzle. As now there are n number of creative solution builders in market whom organizations can partner bridge the journey towards growth.

Light weight solutions like Datalake as Service, Cassandra as Service, Managed Services, AI and ML Engine that can easily fit on top of these layers that can understand the multi dimensional big data, run big queries through Python, Spark, R languages. Security as Service tools that can keep maturing by blocking the attacks across.
